Marc Marquez secured a commanding victory at the Malaysian Grand Prix, claiming his 80th win in the MotoGP class with the Ducati Lenovo Team. The Spaniard finished 4.1 seconds ahead of Pedro Acosta, while his brother Alex Marquez took third place for Gresini Racing.
Marc took the lead at Turn 1 after overtaking Alex. Following a brief battle between the brothers during the opening lap, the Ducati rider pulled away in the middle stages and controlled the race until the finish.
Francesco Bagnaia endured a difficult race, finishing 13th after starting from the fourth row. The Italian lost several positions in the opening laps and struggled with rear grip throughout the race.
Bagnaia said he had to manage the grip issue and eventually focused on bringing the bike to the finish.
With the Malaysian GP marking the end of the 19th round, Marquez continues to lead the riders’ championship.
Marquez’s victory also sets up the first championship match point of the season.
The MotoGP paddock will head to the Lusail International Circuit for the Qatar Grand Prix from November 6 to 8. With three Grands Prix remaining, Márquez will look to convert his championship lead into the title.
Marc Marquez continues to strengthen his grip on the 2025 MotoGP championship with another dominant performance. While his 80th premier-class victory puts him in a strong position, Bagnaia’s struggles highlight Ducati’s contrasting fortunes at Sepang.
