McMurtry Automotive has officially revealed the production version of the Speirling PURE, transforming one of the world’s most outrageous prototypes into a customer-ready hyper track car. After years of development and record-breaking runs, the electric fan car is finally ready for deliveries later this year.

The Speirling PURE stays true to the philosophy that made it famous, but nearly everything beneath the surface has changed. McMurtry says 95 per cent of the components are new, making the production model significantly more refined and easier to own without sacrificing its headline-grabbing performance.
Bigger Battery, Bigger Capability
Power comes from a 100kWh lithium-ion battery, replacing the 60kWh pack used in earlier prototypes. It feeds a twin-motor rear-wheel-drive setup producing 1,000bhp, while regenerative braking has also been improved.
Performance remains nothing short of extraordinary:
- 0-100 kmph: 1.55 seconds
- Top speed: 305kmph
- Up to 3g in cornering and braking
- Rear-wheel drive with electronic differential
Despite the larger battery, McMurtry has reworked the cooling system and packaging to improve efficiency and aerodynamics.
Downforce Unlike Anything Else
The Speirling’s biggest talking point remains its patented Downforce-on-Demand system. Twin fans generate up to 2,000kg of downforce from zero speed, allowing the car to produce race-car levels of grip even before it starts moving.
Unlike traditional aerodynamic setups that rely on airflow, the fan system delivers maximum grip instantly, helping the car brake harder, corner faster, and remain stable even during spins.
Built for Drivers, Not Just Engineers
While the Speirling PURE delivers Formula One-level performance, McMurtry says ownership has been designed to be surprisingly straightforward.

The car now features a larger cockpit, improved visibility, custom-moulded seating, optional air conditioning, easier servicing and fast charging that takes the battery from 20 to 95 per cent in as little as 20 minutes, depending on charger capacity. Owners can even run the car at track days with just one additional helper instead of a full race crew.

Record Breaker Goes into Production
The Speirling has already built a reputation by setting the Goodwood Festival of Speed Hillclimb record, breaking the Top Gear Test Track lap record, and becoming the first car to drive upside down. The production model aims to deliver the same breathtaking performance in a package customers can actually own.
