Mercedes-Benz C-Class Gets Smarter with New AI Tech and Electrified Powertrains

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class has received its most comprehensive technical update yet, bringing sharper styling, a more tech-heavy cabin and updated electrified petrol and diesel engines. The refreshed Saloon and Estate will be available to order from August 18, with prices in Germany starting at €48,844 (₹54,07,519) including VAT.

The update keeps the C-Class familiar while adding more technology and comfort to the package.

Sharper design, more premium cabin

The biggest visual changes are concentrated at the front and rear.

Inside, Mercedes has focused on making the C-Class feel more like a smaller luxury flagship. The cabin gets new trim and upholstery options, an upgraded Burmester 3D sound system and 64-colour ambient lighting.

The C-Class gets much smarter

Technology is arguably the biggest change. The new C-Class runs on Mercedes-Benz’s MB.OS operating system, allowing over-the-air updates and additional features through Digital Extras.

The fourth-generation MBUX system now uses AI from ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing and Google Gemini, allowing the virtual assistant to handle more natural, multi-part conversations and remember context. Navigation is also based on Google Maps and gets Google’s Automotive AI Agent for conversational searches.

More electrification under the bonnet

The updated C-Class continues with petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains, with all engines developed with future emissions regulations in mind.

The petrol range includes the C 200, C 250 and C 300, with outputs ranging from 177hp to 258hp. All get 48V mild-hybrid technology and Mercedes’ second-generation integrated starter-generator.

The C 400 e plug-in hybrid produces 395hp and 650Nm, while offering up to 100km of electric range.

More agile, easier to drive

Mercedes has also tweaked the chassis, suspension and steering. Rear-wheel steering can turn the rear wheels by up to 2.5 degrees, reducing the turning circle to 10.64m.

The new C-Class also gets an expanded suite of MB.DRIVE assistance systems, including lane-change assistance, parking assistance and enhanced collision avoidance features.
