Mercedes-Benz India launched All-Electric CLA

Merc’s new CLA replaces the A-Class Limousine, which had a combustion engine. The electric iteration gets a decent 792 km WLTP range.

Battery Pack & Performance

The CLA EV gets an 85 kWh battery pack with a claimed 792 km range. The car stands higher than the previous model, and the suspension is tuned specifically for different road conditions.

The car can go from 0-100 in 6.7 seconds as the carmaker claims, and a 400km running time with 20 minutes of charging. The system also supports high-speed DC fast-charging of up to 240 kW.That’s efficiency overpowering performance.

The car also uses a two-speed gearbox unlike many other EVs that use single speed gearbox. Porsche Taycan uses a similar unit.

The rear electric motor generates a decent 272 hp. The car also gets 18-inch wheels.

Exterior & Design

The exterior gives prime focus to the three-pointedstar logo. The logo is well lit and the front grille features 142 small backlit stars. The front is not all show as it also gets small air inlets to let air flow around the car.

The car also gets a coupe like silhouette with flush doors handles. The roof of the car features a panoramic glass with heat-protective coating for Indian conditions.

Feature rich Interior

Since the CLA 250+ variant is the one bound for India, it won’t get the brand’s triple display super screen. Instead, the car gets 10.5- inch driver’s display and a 14- inch infotainment system running Merc’s in-house MB.OS system. The interior also gets six 100W USB-C fast-charging ports as standard. If opted for the AMG pack, you get a sportier steering wheel with tactile controls.

Safety

The car was awarded 5-star safety rating from the Euro NCAP in 2025. Along with front and side airbags the car gets a central airbag cushion hits and gets a level-2 radar based ADAS.

Price Expected

The bookings are set to begin by March 10 and launch in April. The car is expected to be priced around ₹50-60 lakh (ex-showroom).
