Mercedes-Maybach is set to launch the S 580 e in India on October 5, introducing the brand’s first plug-in hybrid Maybach in the country. The luxury saloon combines a six-cylinder petrol engine with an electric powertrain and 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
The India-spec model produces 585hp and 750Nm, an increase of 80hp and 50Nm over its predecessor. It also gets a claimed 98km WLTP electric range, allowing many urban journeys to be completed without the combustion engine. Pasted text
The S 580 e uses a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox. In electric mode, it can reach a top speed of 140km/h.
The 14kWh? battery capacity is not specified in the dossier. Charging is supported at up to 60kW DC and 11kW AC, with a complimentary home charger included. The car also offers adjustable regenerative braking, including a one-pedal driving function.

Mercedes claims a fuel-efficiency figure of 34.48kmpl on the WLTP weighted combined cycle.
The S 580 e will be offered in India exclusively as a four-seat model, with two individual rear Executive seats separated by a full-length Business console.
The rear compartment gets climatised seats, automatic climate control, wireless charging, temperature-controlled cup holders and the Rear Comfort Package Plus. Mercedes also offers ENERGIZING Comfort, AIR BALANCE and ENERGIZING AIR CONTROL for the cabin.
The front cabin features an MBUX Superscreen, a passenger display with a privacy function, a 3D driver display and an augmented-reality head-up display.
A 31-speaker Burmester 4D system with 1,610 watts and Dolby Atmos is standard, while rear passengers get individual screens and wireless headphones.
