JSW MG Motor India has introduced the MG Hector Tomahawk, marking a new era of electrified mobility for the Hector lineup. Built on the company’s ADAPT platform, the SUV will be offered with both all-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains, giving buyers two distinctly different options under the same nameplate.

Two Powertrains, Two Approaches

The Hector Tomahawk EV is designed for buyers ready to make the shift to electric mobility, while the PHEV offers the convenience of electric driving with the flexibility of a petrol engine for longer journeys.

  • EV: 69.2 kWh battery with a claimed range of 517 km
  • Power: 210hp and 310 Nm of torque
  • PHEV: 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a 20.5 kWh battery
  • PHEV range: 115+ km in electric mode and 1,100+ km combined range

Bigger, Bolder and More Premium

At 4,745 mm long and with a 2,810 mm wheelbase, the Hector Tomahawk brings considerable road presence and interior space. The EV will be offered in both five- and seven-seat configurations, while the PHEV will be available exclusively as a seven-seater.

  • New Beacon Lights and illuminated MG logo
  • Rotor alloy wheels and a sharper exterior design
  • 15.6-inch HD touchscreen and 8.8-inch driver display
  • Ventilated front seats, panoramic SkyRoof and Infinity audio system

Technology And Safety Take Centre Stage

MG continues its technology-heavy approach with the Tomahawk, packing the SUV with connected features and driver-assistance systems. It also introduces some features that go beyond the usual infotainment and convenience package.

  • Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera
  • i-SMART 3.0 with over 80 connected features
  • GenAI-powered voice assistant supporting 30+ Hinglish commands
  • Vehicle-to-Home capability to power appliances and equipment
  • Lifetime battery warranty for the first owner

Prices Start At ₹13.99 Lakh

The Hector Tomahawk EV starts at ₹19.49 lakh, while the PHEV is priced from ₹25.69 lakh, ex-showroom. Under MG’s Battery-as-a-Service programme, introductory prices start at ₹13.99 lakh for the EV and ₹21.79 lakh for the PHEV, with separate battery rental charges.

Final Take

The Hector Tomahawk is significant not simply because it adds another electric SUV to the market, but because MG is offering two different answers to the same question. The EV targets buyers ready to go fully electric, while the PHEV offers a middle ground for those who want electric mobility without giving up the freedom of long-distance petrol-powered travel.
