Michelin has launched the new X Multi Energy Z2 tyre for commercial vehicles in India. Developed and tested for Indian road conditions, the tyre focuses on improving fuel efficiency, tyre life, and overall savings for fleet operators.

Michelin claims the new tyre can deliver up to 13% fuel savings compared to leading competitors in certain sizes.
Better Fuel Efficiency and Grip
Michelin’s tests show the following fuel savings:
- 295/80R22.5: Up to 6% fuel savings.
- 295/90R20: Up to 13% fuel savings.
- Grip: Up to 5% larger contact area than leading competitors.
- Handling: Improved grip on wet and dry roads.
- Tyre life: Designed to last longer and reduce replacement costs.
The tyre uses Michelin technologies such as Carbion, InfiniCoil, Duracoil and Power Coil to improve strength, stability and durability.
Designed to Reduce Running Costs
Fuel makes up around 50% of a commercial fleet’s operating costs. Michelin says the X Multi Energy Z2 is designed to reduce fuel consumption while helping operators get more kilometres out of each tyre.
The idea is to help fleet owners save money over the tyre’s lifetime, rather than focus only on its purchase price. The tyre is aimed at long-distance trucks, logistics companies and large commercial fleets.
Michelin’s India Plans
The launch also highlights Michelin’s continued investment in India. Its Chennai facility has an installed annual capacity of 54,000 tonnes and supports truck and bus tyre production, along with its passenger car tyre line.
Michelin has invested over ₹2,800 crore in Chennai since 2009, followed by another ₹686 crore in September 2025. Its Pune centre also serves as the company’s global Data and AI hub.

Final Take
The X Multi Energy Z2 is designed to help truck operators save on fuel and get more life out of their tyres. If the claimed fuel savings hold up in everyday use, it could help reduce running costs for long-distance fleets. The tyre will be available across India from November 2026.
