Ducati has launched the fifth-generation Monster in India, with prices starting at ₹13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Monster gets a completely redesigned body, a new V2 engine and a lighter chassis, while retaining the minimalist character that has defined the nameplate since 1992.
The new Monster gets a sharper interpretation of Ducati’s classic naked-bike design. It features a redesigned bison-back fuel tank, full-LED lighting and a slimmer seat that sits at 815mm. The motorcycle also gets a new monocoque frame and weighs 175kg without fuel, making it 4kg lighter than its predecessor.
The biggest mechanical change is the new 890cc V2 engine. It produces 111hp at 9,000rpm and 91.1Nm at 7,250rpm. Ducati also claims a 45,000km valve-clearance inspection interval, making the new Monster easier to maintain.
The Monster gets a comprehensive electronics package, including:
The suspension setup includes 43mm Showa USD forks and a Showa monoshock, while braking is handled by twin 320mm front discs with Brembo M4.32 radial calipers.
The standard Monster starts at ₹13.99 lakh for the Ducati Red version, while the Iceberg White and Sport Livery versions cost ₹14.23 lakh. The Monster+ starts at ₹14.34 lakh for the Ducati Red version, going up to ₹14.45 lakh for the Iceberg White and Sport Livery versions. All prices are ex-showroom.
The Monster+ additionally gets a headlight cowl and passenger seat cover.

The new Monster sticks to the formula that made the original so popular while bringing it up to date with a new engine, lighter chassis and modern electronics. The 111hp V2, 175kg weight and 815mm seat should make it both exciting and approachable. With longer service intervals and a strong electronics package, the new Monster also looks easier to live with than before.
