Ultraviolette has announced plans for its new BIGGA (Big Global Ambition) Factory in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, as it prepares to significantly scale production. The new facility will manufacture the upcoming Tesseract electric scooter and support the company’s future range of motorcycles and scooters.

Located at SIPCOT Industrial Park, Shoolagiri, the facility will initially ramp up to 250,000 vehicles annually, with infrastructure designed to scale capacity to 500,000 units as demand grows.

BIGGA Factory to Manufacture Tesseract

The facility will add to Ultraviolette’s existing manufacturing operation in Bengaluru and is intended to provide the production capacity required for the company’s next phase of growth.

Its future portfolio is expected to span multiple segments:

  • Sports motorcycles
  • Crossover motorcycles
  • Cruiser motorcycles
  • Street motorcycles
  • Electric scooters

The project is expected to create around 2,000 jobs initially, with employment set to increase as operations scale over the next five years.

Industry 4.0 Manufacturing

Ultraviolette says the BIGGA Factory will incorporate advanced automation and digital manufacturing systems to improve production precision and consistency.

Key technologies include:

  • Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
  • Real-time production track-and-trace
  • Digital lean manufacturing
  • Digital quality systems
  • Collaborative robots for sorting, welding and assembly
  • Automated assembly fool-proofing
  • Vision-based inspection systems

A dedicated test track will also allow every vehicle to undergo evaluation before being dispatched.

Located Close to Bengaluru

The Tamil Nadu government will facilitate the allotment of land for the facility at SIPCOT Industrial Park, Shoolagiri. Ultraviolette says Hosur’s established automotive ecosystem, supply-chain advantages, and proximity to its Bengaluru R&D operations and supplier network were key factors behind the location.

The facility is also being designed with flexibility and scalability in mind, allowing production to expand as Ultraviolette’s product portfolio grows.

Expansion Beyond India

The BIGGA Factory is intended to support Ultraviolette’s growth in both India and international markets. The company says the facility will help it build production capabilities at scale while maintaining its focus on technology, performance and quality.

Final Take

The BIGGA Factory marks a major production expansion for Ultraviolette, with the company targeting 250,000 units annually and eventual capacity of 500,000 units.

With the Tesseract set to be manufactured here and more products planned across motorcycles and scooters, the facility could become the foundation of Ultraviolette’s transition from a performance-focused EV maker into a higher-volume manufacturer.
