Ultraviolette X-47 Skyforce Joins Kolkata Police Fleet With 183 Motorcycles

Ultraviolette has delivered 183 X-47 Skyforce electric motorcycles to the Kolkata Police, marking one of the largest electric motorcycle deployments by an Indian police force. The handover took place at Lalbazar Police Headquarters on September 18, 2026.

The X-47 Skyforce is a dedicated patrol variant developed for police operations, with purpose-built equipment and an augmented electronic architecture to support day-to-day law enforcement duties.

Purpose-Built for Police Duty

Based on the X-47 Crossover, the Skyforce has been customised to meet the operational needs of the Kolkata Police. Its equipment includes:

  • Integrated sirens, hooters and a public address system
  • LED blinkers and police decals
  • Microphone and walkie-talkie holders
  • Side panniers for carrying equipment

The motorcycles underwent testing before delivery and are intended for active patrol duties, rather than ceremonial use. The crossover platform is designed to handle varied urban terrain while offering manoeuvrability and space for duty equipment.

Performance and Range

The X-47 Skyforce retains Ultraviolette’s performance-focused electric platform, with specifications suited to quick-response duties.

  • Power: 36 hp
  • Top speed: 145 km/h
  • IDC range: 211 km on a single charge

Its long-range capability and ergonomic design are intended to support officers during extended periods of operation.

A Shift Towards Electric Patrol Vehicles

Ultraviolette says electric motorcycles could help police departments reduce running and maintenance costs while supporting their shift towards sustainable mobility. The Kolkata Police deployment also marks Ultraviolette’s first large-scale induction into the force’s fleet.
