5 Top Budget Friendly EVs in India which keeps your Pockets Intact

Electric car sales in India have grown rapidly in recent years. Earlier, people preferred petrol and diesel cars because EVs were costly and charging stations and infrastructure were rare. But now, government incentives and better infrastructure have made EVs more popular in the country. Here are the top 5 budget-friendly electric cars you can get in India:

  1. MG Comet EV: MG Motor India launched the 2025 Comet EV at a starting price of ₹6.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes in six variants namely Executive, Excite, Excite FC, Exclusive, Exclusive FC, and Blackstorm Edition. The car has a 17.3 kWh battery (17.4 kWh for FC models) and offers a range of 230 km on a single charge. The EV Produces 41 bhp power and 110 Nm torque. As of now this is India’s most affordable EV.
  1. Tata Tiago EV: Tata Motors launched the 2025 Tiago EV in January at an ex-showroom price between ₹7.99 lakh and ₹11.14 lakh. It is available in four trims: XE MR, XT MR, XT LR, and XZ+ Tech LUX LR. The car comes with two battery options, the first option is a 19.2 kWh battery pack proving 223 km range for MR variants and the second one is the 24 kWh battery pack, offering 293 km range for LR models.
  2. Citroën eC3: The Citroën eC3 comes with a starting ex-showroom price of ₹12.76 lakh, going upto ₹13.53 lakh for the Top-End model. It offers five variants called, Feel, Shine, Shine Vibe Pack, Shine Dual Tone, and Shine Dual Tone Vibe Pack. The EV has a 29.2 kWh battery that providing a 246 km range. The eC3 also supports DC fast charging, taking just 57 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.
  3. Tata Punch EV: Punch EV sits between the Tiago EV and Nexon EV in the Tata line-up and is priced between ₹9.99 lakh and ₹14.44 lakh ex-showroom. It is available in eight variants: Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Adventure S, Empowered, Empowered+, Empowered S, and Empowered+ S. The standard model comes with a 25 kWh battery offering ARAI-certified range of 265 km, while the Long-Range (LR) version gets a 35 kWh battery claming 365 km ARAI-certified range.
  4. MG Windsor EV: The Newest model to enter this space was the MG Windsor EV launched in September 2024. The MG Windsor EV comes in three variants: Excite, Exclusive, and Essence and is priced at ₹13.50 lakh, ₹14.50 lakh, and ₹15.50 lakh, respectively. After its launch it quickly became the best-selling EV for two months in a row. The Windsor EV has a 38 kWh battery with a 332 km ARAI-certified range.
