Renault has offered a closer look at the engineering behind the new Duster through its first technical keynote seminar, highlighting the mechanical and architectural choices that shape the SUV’s driving character.

Platform: Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP)

The new Duster introduces the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP) to the Indian market, making it the first India-spec vehicle built on this architecture.

Designed with flexibility in mind, RGMP can accommodate multiple body styles, different powertrain layouts, and various fuel options. Renault also confirmed that this platform will serve as the base for several upcoming models planned for the Indian market.

Stance and Capability

The Duster continues to retain its traditional SUV proportions, combining better ground clearance with well-balanced approach and departure angles. This configuration gives the vehicle what Renault describes as a “true SUV stance”.

Powertrain Performance

Under the hood, the SUV delivers over 160 hp and 280 Nm of torque, placing it among the strongest performers in its segment.

Features such as Delta cylinder head and PowerGlyd-coated cylinders have been implemented to improve combustion efficiency, reduce emissions, and enhance engine durability.

Suspension and Dynamics

A key focus of the engineering program has been ride and handling. The SUV features a super twist beam rear suspension, paired with the widest diameter front anti-roll bar in the segment.

Steering and Braking Performance

The car features an Electric Power Steering system powered by a 100A BLDC motor, which reduces steering effort while maintaining consistent feedback and returnability.

Braking performance is supported by a 23.88 mm master cylinder and low-steel, low-metallic brake.

NVH and Cabin Refinement

Renault has introduced a multi-layer “Cabin Hush” insulation system, combining EVA damping with acoustic barrier materials to reduce engine and road noise.

Safety and Driver Assistance

The Duster gets a reinforced body structure built with advanced high-strength steel, complemented by additional fuel tank protection to improve overall crash safety.

Assistance systems include 12 ultrasonic sensors, improved high-beam functionality, and a customizable ADAS “person mode” that allows drivers to personalize assistance settings.
