Forza Horizon 6 has officially been revealed by Playground Games, and the latest entry in the Horizon series is finally heading to Japan.

The game was showcased during Xbox Developer Direct, with developers revealing new gameplay details, fresh mechanics, and a deeper focus on Japanese car culture.
Players Begin as Tourists in Japan
Unlike previous Horizon games, players will not start as an established racer. Instead, Forza Horizon 6 begins with the player arriving in Japan as a Tourist and Horizon fan with the dream of eventually joining the Horizon Festival.

The developers say the idea was to make the experience feel more personal and immersive as you explore an unfamiliar country.
Massive Open World Inspired by Japan
The map features several famous Japanese-inspired locations, including:
- Tokyo-style city districts
- Mountain roads
- Docklands areas
- Dense urban streets
- Neon-lit downtown sections
The game also recreates iconic locations inspired by:
- Shibuya Crossing
- Tokyo Tower
- Daikoku parking area
Playground Games says the goal was not to recreate Japan exactly, but to capture the feeling of driving through Japan in a condensed Horizon-style world.
New Features and Car Meets
Forza Horizon 6 introduces several new systems, including:
- Collection Journal
- Player Estates
- Car Meets
The Collection Journal lets players document discoveries and landmarks across Japan, inspired by Japanese stamp-collection culture.
Meanwhile, Car Meets are based on real-life Japanese car-gathering culture, especially Daikoku PA, where players can meet online, showcase builds, and download custom liveries.
Around 550 Cars at Launch
The game will launch with around 550 cars, including the newly revealed cover cars:
- Toyota GR GT Prototype
- Toyota Land Cruiser

Platforms and Release
Forza Horizon 6 will launch later this year for:
- Xbox Series XS
- PC
- Xbox Cloud Gaming
- Steam
with a PlayStation 5 release planned later in 2026.
Final Take
Forza Horizon 6 already looks like one of the most ambitious Horizon games yet. Japan has been one of the most requested locations for years, and Playground Games seems to be going far beyond just adding Japanese roads and cars.
The stronger focus on culture, exploration, and community-driven car meets could make Horizon 6 feel far more immersive than previous entries in the series.
