Triumph Motorcycles has revealed the updated Tiger 1200 with more power, revised suspension, improved low-speed control and new rider assistance technology. The adventure motorcycle range will arrive in India from March 2027, with the GT Pro and Rally Explorer variants confirmed for the market. Prices will be announced closer to bookings opening.

More Power, Better Control

The updated 1,160 cc, three-cylinder engine now produces 155hp at 9,250 rpm, an increase of 7hp, and 130 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. Triumph has also revised the engine, six-speed gearbox and shaft drive to improve refinement and low-speed performance.

Both variants now use a 19-inch front wheel, a 17-inch rear wheel and 200 mm of suspension travel. The GT Pro gets cast aluminium wheels for road-focused riding, while the Rally Explorer uses spoked wheels suited to more demanding terrain.

Suspension That Lowers the Seat

One of the biggest updates is the SHOWA EERA HEIGHTFLEX semi-active suspension system. It automatically lowers the seat by 30 mm as the motorcycle comes to a stop, helping riders place their feet on the ground more easily. With the optional low seat and additional adjustment, seat height can drop to 790 mm at a standstill.

The system also includes Centre Stand Assist, which temporarily adjusts suspension preload to make lifting the motorcycle onto its centre stand easier.

New Technology and Rider Aids

The Tiger 1200 gets a 7-inch HD touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a cooled phone compartment and USB-C charging.

New front and rear Bosch radar systems enable several rider assistance features, including:

  • Adaptive cruise control and Group Ride Assist.
  • Forward Collision Warning and Emergency Brake Assist.
  • Blind Spot Assist and Rear Distance Warning.
  • Riding Distance Assist.

GT Pro and Rally Explorer

The GT Pro gets a 20-litre fuel tank, while the Rally Explorer carries 30 litres for longer journeys. Both feature heated rider and pillion seats, heated grips and Brembo brakes. The Rally Explorer also gets Off-road Pro riding mode and additional engine protection.

Final Take

The updated Tiger 1200 focuses on making a large adventure motorcycle easier to manage without compromising its touring and off-road capabilities. The self-lowering suspension and radar-based rider aids are the key additions, while the revised engine and chassis aim to improve everyday usability. Indian prices are yet to be announced.
