Antonelli Wins Chinese Grand Prix as Mercedes Secures 1-2; McLaren Suffers Double DNS

The Chinese Grand Prix produced a major moment in the Formula One season as Kimi Antonelli secured his first victory for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team.

Starting from pole at the Shanghai International Circuit, Antonelli recovered quickly after losing the lead at the start and controlled the race to take the chequered flag ahead of teammate George Russell, sealing a Mercedes one-two finish.

Antonelli takes First F1 Victory

Antonelli briefly dropped behind at the start but regained the lead within the first few laps. Once back in front, the young Italian maintained a steady pace and managed the race efficiently to stay ahead of his teammate Russell.

The win marks the F1 race victory of Antonelli’s career and continues Merc’s strong start to the season.

Mercedes in Strong Form

Russell finished second after staying close to his teammate for much of the race. Although he remained within range during the middle stages, Antonelli maintained track position and controlled the gap until the finish.

The result gives Merc a strong position in both drivers’ and constructors’ standings.

Hamilton Secures First Ferrari Podium

Sir Lewis Hamilton finished third to secure his first podium since joining Scuderia Ferrari.

Hamilton completed a consistent race and finished ahead of teammate Charles Leclerc, who crossed the line in fourth place.

Both Ferrari drivers showed strong might, with Hamilton and Leclerc involved in a brief cat-and-mouse exchange during the race.

McLaren Car Fails to Start

It was a difficult weekend for the McLaren Formula 1 Team, as both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were unable to start the race due to technical issues.

Given Piastri’s DNF at the previous Australian GP, the season start looks tough for the team.

Gap for the Underdogs

Oliver Bearman finished fifth for the Haas F1 Team, securing one of the team’s strongest results this season.

The result allowed Haas to capitalise on the problems of several leading teams and collect valuable points in the midfield battle.

Race Overview

The race in Shanghai saw Mercedes secure a one-two finish, while Ferrari added another podium. McLaren, however, failed to start both cars, and teams like Haas took advantage of the opportunity to score important points.
