BMW India has launched the new X1 Long Wheelbase at an introductory price of ₹49.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The locally produced SUV brings a longer wheelbase, more rear-seat space, new digital features and additional performance to the X1 lineup.
The biggest change is in the name itself. The X1 LWB gets a 2,800mm wheelbase, which is 108mm longer than before. BMW claims this translates to an additional 150mm of rear legroom and 109mm more knee room.
Key highlights include:
The X1 LWB is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 156hp and 230Nm, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. BMW claims a fuel efficiency figure of 15.5 km/l.
On the technology front, it gets BMW Operating System 9, a widescreen curved display, Digital Key Plus, Comfort Access 2.0 and several connected features. Safety equipment includes eight airbags, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot assistance and parking assistance.

The BMW X1 LWB is clearly aimed at buyers who want more than just a compact luxury SUV. The longer wheelbase gives it a stronger focus on rear-seat comfort, while the added technology and more powerful petrol engine make it a more rounded package.
At ₹49.90 lakh, the X1 LWB brings chauffeur-friendly space into the entry-luxury SUV segment without losing the driving character BMW is known for.
