Genesis GV90 Debuts as the Brand’s First Full-Size Electric Flagship SUV

Genesis has unveiled the GV90, its first full-size flagship electric SUV, marking a major step for Hyundai Motor Group’s luxury brand. The new flagship was revealed in San Francisco and will be offered in standard GV90 and more distinctive GV90 Neolun versions.

A flagship with a very unusual door design

The headline feature of the GV90 Neolun is its hidden B-pillar coach door system, called the Neolun Arch Gate. The front and rear doors open independently, creating a wide and unobstructed entry area.

Genesis says the structure uses reinforced steel beams and a concealed roll-cage-like safety structure to maintain rigidity despite the unconventional design.

Big battery, big performance

The GV90 sits on a dedicated electric platform developed specifically for Genesis flagships. It gets a massive 123.5kWh battery, the largest yet for a Hyundai Motor Group EV.

Genesis claims an estimated range of around 500km, while a 350kW fast charger can charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 22 minutes. The dual-motor setup produces up to 647hp and 800Nm of torque.

The flagship SUV also features dual electronic limited-slip differentials, multi-chamber air suspension and rear-wheel steering, combining comfort with improved manoeuvrability.

A lounge on wheels

Inside, the GV90 takes the luxury-lounge approach seriously. The Neolun version gets 180-degree swivelling front seats, while the Executive Suite offers a four-seat configuration with features including a refrigerator, integrated tables and a comfort partition.

Other highlights include a 24.6-inch pop-up OLED display, 25-inch head-up display, 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, massage seats and Genesis’ new AI-powered interface.

Final Take

The GV90 is Genesis making a serious statement at the very top of the luxury EV market. With its dramatic coach doors, enormous battery, advanced suspension and genuinely extravagant interior, this is less about simply building another electric SUV and more about defining what a Genesis flagship can be.
