BMW Group India Appoints Hardeep Singh Brar as New President and CEO

BMW Group India has announced a leadership change with Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar taking over as the new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective 1st September 2025. He succeeds Mr. Vikram Pawah, who will now lead BMW Group’s operations in Australia and New Zealand as CEO.

Mr. Brar brings with him over three decades of experience in the Indian automotive industry. He has held key roles in leading brands such as Maruti Suzuki, Volkswagen, General Motors, Nissan, Great Wall Motors, and most recently served as the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Kia India. His expertise spans sales, marketing, customer experience, network development, and corporate strategy. An engineer by qualification, Mr. Brar is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s Senior Executive Leadership Program.

Jean-Philippe Parain, Senior Vice President at BMW Group, stated that India continues to be one of BMW’s fastest-growing and strategically important markets. He expressed confidence in Mr. Brar’s leadership, highlighting his deep understanding of the Indian automotive space. He also extended appreciation to Mr. Vikram Pawah for his significant contributions to BMW Group India’s growth and transformation in recent years.

Mr. Pawah, who joined the BMW Group in 2017, has played a vital role in shaping the brand’s direction in India and Australia. His focus on market expansion, electric mobility, digitalisation, and enhancing customer experience has helped strengthen BMW’s presence in the region.

BMW Group India operates three key brands — BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad — all focusing on the premium segment. The company has had a strong presence in the Indian market since 2007. Its facilities include a manufacturing plant in Chennai, a regional distribution centre in Pune, and a training centre in Gurugram. BMW Group Plant Chennai produces 10 locally manufactured car models.

MINI has positioned itself successfully in the premium small car space since its launch in 2012, and BMW Motorrad officially became part of BMW Group India in 2017, offering premium motorcycles across segments.

With a growing retail footprint, BMW Group India currently operates more than 80 touchpoints across the country.
