Hyundai at its Peak! i10 hits 3.3 Million Sales Milestone

Hyundai i10 crosses a major milestone, achieving over 3.3 million unit sales in India and export markets combined. Out of this, more than 2 million units were sold in India, while around 1.3 million units were exported to over 140 other countries. Hyundai i10’s key export markets include South Africa, Mexico, Chile, and Peru. Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) continues to lead as India’s largest exporter of passenger vehicles. The brand is strengthening its role as a global export hub for Hyundai Motor Company.

Mr . Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of HMIL, shared that the brand i10’s success shows the trust of customers and the strength of Indian manufacturing. He highlighted that the current i10 generation has achieved over 91 % localization for both domestic and export models. With a new production plant coming up in Maharashtra, HMIL plans to boost exports even further. This will help Hyundai in expanding into both emerging and developed markets, staying true to its ‘Make in India, Made for the World’ vision.

Speaking about the i10 brand, now in its 18 th year, has evolved across three generations — the original i10, the Grand i10, and the current Grand i10 NIOS. It is available with three powertrain options, namely a 1.2 L Kappa Petrol manual, a 1.2 L Kappa Petrol AMT, and a 1.2 L Bi-Fuel (petrol+CNG) engine option. Thanks to its practicality and popularity, HMIL has consistently sold over one lakh units of the i10 each year in India.

Launched back in 2007, the i10 offered features like dual airbags, ABS, and keyless entry etc right from the start. Over time, the model has added even more features to match customer needs and expectations. The latest Grand i10 NIOS comes with modern upgrades such as six airbags, ABS with EBD, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic stability control (ESC), LED DRLs, cruise control, wireless phone charging, and an 8 -inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The Grand i10 NIOS has become a favorite model among Indian families. In FY24-25, over 45 % of its buyers were first-time car owners, and more than 83 % of customers were married. Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Haryana are the top markets for the Grand i10 NIOS, showcasing its strong popularity across the country.
