JSW Motors’ First SUV to Be Called Combat, Launch Expected This Festive Season

JSW Motors is set to name its first SUV Combat, with the new model expected to launch in India during the upcoming festive season. Based on the Chery Jetour T2, the five-seat SUV will use a plug-in hybrid powertrain and could be priced between ₹30 lakh and ₹50 lakh.

The Combat will mark JSW Motors’ entry into the passenger vehicle market and could offer a more rugged alternative to SUVs such as the Toyota Fortuner.

Rugged Design

The Combat is expected to retain the Jetour T2’s boxy design, with changes to the grille, headlamps, bumpers and badging.

Inside, it is expected to get a 15.6-inch infotainment screen and a 10.6-inch digital driver’s display.

The final India-spec equipment list is yet to be confirmed.

Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain

The Combat is expected to use a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, two electric motors and an 18.4kWh battery.

3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission

The battery can be charged from 30–100 percent in around 3 hours using a 6.6kW AC charger. A 50kW DC charger takes around 27 minutes to charge it from 30-80 percent.

The Combat is expected to use a similar setup, although JSW has not confirmed its final specifications.

Expected Price

JSW is reportedly targeting a ₹30 lakh-50 lakh price range. This would make the Combat one of the few five-seat plug-in hybrid SUVs in this bracket.
