Kia Carens Clavis EV: India’s Most Affordable 7-Seater EV is Almost Here

Kia has officially revealed the Carens Clavis EV in India. From the looks and design it stays very close to its petrol and diesel siblings. The most noticeable change is up front, where it gets a Kia EV5-inspired nose with an enclosed grille and a charging port integrated into the front panel.

The slimmer upper air inlet from the standard model has been sealed off, and fog lamps on the EV now sit on the lower bumper. Along the sides, the most distinct update is a new set of EV-specific alloy wheels, which looks stunning.

Inside, the cabin layout looks familiar but with a few smart changes. The centre console has been redesigned, the place where the gear lever once sat is now a storage bin, and the extended armrest area includes additional storage space and new button controls. The dual-screen setup from the regular Carens is retained, and the overall dashboard design remains clean and functional.

At the back, Kia has shown the 7-seater version with a bench seat in the second row, although a 6-seater layout could also be offered. Key features spotted include roof-mounted rear AC vents, ambient lighting, twin digital displays, three-point seatbelts for all passengers, and a panoramic sunroof. One standout feature confirmed in the teaser is Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) tech, allowing users to power small electronic devices using the car’s battery.

Under the hood, while full technical specs are yet to be revealed, Kia has confirmed that the Clavis EV will come with a 51.4 kWh battery pack, providing a claimed range of up to 490 km. This is the same setup seen in the Hyundai Creta EV, which suggests Kia might also offer a smaller 42 kWh variant later. Power figures are likely to be similar as well.

With its launch scheduled for July 15, the Carens Clavis EV is supposed to become India’s most affordable seven-seater electric vehicle, making electric mobility more accessible to larger families while keeping Kia’s signature design and comfort intact.
