Lamborghini Polo Storico Honors Its Experts Committee

Lamborghini Polo Storico, the division dedicated to preserving and restoring classic Lamborghinis, relies on a special group called the Comitato dei Saggi, or Experts Committee. This group is made up of former employees who played important roles in Lamborghini’s history and keep its technical and cultural knowledge alive. Known inside the company as the “Seniores,” these experts help with certification, restoration, and rebuilding the company’s archives. Their hands-on experience and unique knowledge—often not found in official documents—are crucial for keeping Lamborghini’s legacy strong.

To celebrate its tenth anniversary, Lamborghini Polo Storico released a video featuring three current members of the committee. These experts represent decades of experience, dedication, and passion for the brand.

Lamborghini created the Comitato dei Saggi in 2017, naming it in honor of engineer Paolo Stanzani, a key figure in the company’s history. Over the years, the committee has included famous names like Giampaolo Dallara and Mauro Forghieri. Today, the group includes experts who may not be widely known but have made a big impact in areas like homologation (certifying cars for different markets), electronics, spare parts, and production.

  • Walter Rinaldi started at Lamborghini as a forklift operator and later became head of production procurement and purchasing. He worked at Lamborghini from 1966 to 2010 and saw every car from the 350 GT to the Murciélago come to life.
  • Giancarlo Barbieri began as an engine technician, working with legends like Paolo Stanzani and Giampaolo Dallara. He was responsible for getting the Countach and Diablo approved for sale in different countries.
  • Massimo Pizzi spent his career in Lamborghini’s electrical and electronics department. He started as an electrician on the Countach line and eventually led the electrical systems team in Research & Development, working on special models like the Sesto Elemento and Veneno.

To mark ten years of Polo Storico, Lamborghini is sharing its story through four short films. Each film focuses on a key part of its work: the Historic Archive, the Experts Committee, restoration, and authenticity certification. The anniversary celebrations began in Saint Moritz in February, will continue at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in the United States in August, and will finish at the Auto e Moto d’Epoca show in Bologna in October.

Through the work of the Comitato dei Saggi, Lamborghini Polo Storico continues to protect and celebrate the brand’s rich history for future generations.
