Lexus TZ Revealed: This Electric SUV Brings Back the Spirit of the LFA’s V10 Sound

Lexus has officially unveiled the new Lexus TZ, a fully electric three-row luxury SUV designed around comfort, space, and long-distance usability.

The TZ is the brand’s first all-electric three-row SUV and has been developed under what Lexus calls the “Driving Lounge” concept.

Built Around Comfort and Space

Unlike many performance-focused EVs, the TZ seems to focus more on making the cabin feel calm and relaxing.

Lexus says the idea was to create a vehicle where passengers can comfortably spend long hours, almost like a lounge on wheels.

Some of the highlights include:

  • Spacious three-row cabin
  • Slim panoramic roof for a more open feel
  • Lounge-style seating layout
  • Lexus’s focus on cabin quietness
  • Ambient lighting and premium audio setup

The company says special attention has also been given to sound insulation and ride comfort.

Big SUV With Strong Performance

Even though comfort is a major focus, the TZ is still a very powerful EV.

Key figures include:

  • Dual-motor AWD setup
  • Around 408 hp
  • 0–100 km/h in 5.4 seconds
  • 95.8 kWh battery pack

Range figures vary by market, but Lexus claims:

  • Up to 620 km range in Japan-spec testing

Charging from 10 to 80 percent is expected to take around 35 minutes using fast charging.

Design Focuses on Aerodynamics

The TZ keeps Lexus’ bold SUV styling, but the company says every part of the design has also been shaped to improve efficiency and airflow.

Some standout design details include:

  • Sharp geometric styling
  • Closed spindle-style front design
  • Aerodynamic alloy wheels
  • Clean, sculpted body surfaces

Despite being a large SUV, Lexus says the TZ was designed to feel smaller and easier to drive from behind the wheel.

Sustainable Materials Inside

Lexus is also pushing sustainability heavily with the TZ.

The cabin uses:

  • Recycled aluminium
  • Sustainable materials
  • Decorative “forged bamboo” trim pieces

The company says the vehicle was developed with a lower environmental impact in mind.

LFA-Inspired Sound

One of the most interesting features of the new Lexus TZ is its Active Sound Control system, which recreates the iconic V10 soundtrack of the legendary Lexus LFA inside the cabin.

Key highlights include:

  • Simulated LFA-inspired V10 engine sound
  • Dynamic sound changes during paddle-shift “gear changes.”
  • Interactive Manual Drive system for a sportier feel
  • Additional musical soundscapes linked to throttle input

For India

There is no confirmation yet about an India launch, but luxury EV demand in India is steadily growing. A large electric SUV like the Lexus TZ could appeal to buyers looking for a premium family EV with strong comfort and road presence, especially in the high-end luxury segment.

Final Take

The Lexus TZ feels less like a traditional SUV and more like a luxury lounge that happens to be electric. It combines space, comfort, and strong performance in a package clearly aimed at families and long-distance travel rather than outright sportiness.
