Lexus has unveiled the new-generation NX, giving its popular compact luxury SUV a major update with a new hybrid system, improved plug-in hybrid range, sharper driving dynamics and a more technology-focused cabin.
The new NX is scheduled to go on sale in global markets from the end of 2026. Since its debut in 2014, the NX has sold around 1.9 million units across more than 90 countries and regions.
The biggest changes come under the skin. Lexus has introduced a redesigned hybrid system with a more compact e-Axle, improved efficiency and better performance.
The NX lineup will include hybrid and plug-in hybrid options. The NX450h+ plug-in hybrid gets a newly developed lithium-ion battery with higher capacity and output.
Lexus has strengthened the NX’s body structure, with improvements to floor and suspension rigidity. The suspension, steering and braking systems have also been retuned to deliver better handling without compromising ride comfort.
The SUV has undergone extensive testing at Lexus’ Shimoyama facility and Germany’s Nürburgring.
Inside, the NX gets a cleaner and more modern layout. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster sits alongside a 14-inch infotainment display, while new ambient lighting adds to the premium feel.
One of the more unusual additions is Sensory Concierge. The system combines lighting, music, climate control, seat temperature and fragrance to create different cabin moods.
Three modes are available: Inspire, Radiance and Revitalize, while occupants can choose from five different fragrances.
The exterior has also been updated with a sportier stance, new lighting signatures and additional colour options. The F SPORT variant gets exclusive styling elements, 20-inch wheels and red brake calipers.
The new Lexus NX is less about a dramatic redesign and more about making an already successful SUV better suited for the electrified era. With longer EV range, faster charging, improved dynamics and a more premium cabin experience, Lexus is clearly pushing the NX further upmarket.
