Mahindra has launched the XUV 3XO ZNG, its first mainstream CNG passenger vehicle, in India at a starting price of ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The compact SUV combines a turbocharged petrol-CNG engine with a claimed efficiency of 24.7km/kg, while retaining the features and practicality of the standard XUV 3XO.
The XUV 3XO ZNG is available in four variants, with prices going up to ₹12.27 lakh. Bookings and deliveries commenced on October 20, 2026.
The XUV 3XO ZNG uses a 1.2-litre mStallion turbocharged engine producing 82kW and 200Nm in both petrol and CNG modes. Mahindra claims this is the highest torque output among CNG passenger vehicles in India.
Key performance figures include:
The system automatically switches to petrol when the CNG supply runs low. A dedicated fast-filling valve is also provided for quicker refuelling.
The twin CNG cylinders are positioned beneath the luggage area, preserving a flat loading floor and 270 litres of usable boot space. The spare wheel remains mounted underneath the body.
Depending on the variant, equipment includes a 26.03cm HD touchscreen, cruise control, rear AC vents, a 60:40 split rear seat and a Skyroof. Higher variants add twin 26.03cm screens, a single-pane sunroof, dual-zone climate control, wireless smartphone connectivity and Adrenox Connect with built-in Alexa.
All variants get six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ISOFIX child-seat mounts and three-point seatbelts for all passengers. A gas-leak detection system can automatically switch the vehicle to petrol mode if a leak is detected.
Mahindra says the XUV 3XO ZNG is built on the platform of the XUV 3XO, which has received a five-star Bharat NCAP rating for adult and child occupant protection.
All prices are ex-showroom.

The XUV 3XO ZNG stands out by pairing CNG efficiency with turbocharged performance, addressing a common compromise in the segment. Its unchanged power and torque figures across both fuel modes, usable boot space and standard safety equipment make it a practical alternative for buyers seeking lower running costs without giving up the performance and features expected from a compact SUV.
