Maruti Suzuki Posts Record-Breaking Sales in May 2026

Maruti Suzuki India had a record month in May 2026, selling a total of 2,42,688 vehicles, its highest-ever monthly sales figure. The company also achieved its best-ever domestic performance, selling 1,93,535 vehicles in India during the month.

The strong result highlights Maruti Suzuki’s continued dominance in the Indian passenger vehicle market, with demand remaining healthy across hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, and vans.

SUVs Lead the Charge

Maruti’s utility vehicle lineup remained one of its biggest strengths in May.

  • Utility vehicle sales: 79,267 units
  • Includes the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Jimny, Maruti Suzuki XL6, and Maruti Suzuki e Vitara

Hatchbacks and Sedans Still Going Strong

Popular passenger cars continued to contribute significantly to overall sales.

  • Passenger car sales: 97,830 units
  • Compact and mid-size models alone accounted for 81,555 units
  • Key contributors included the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Maruti Suzuki WagonR, and Maruti Suzuki Dzire

Exports Also Hit New Highs

Maruti exported 41,914 vehicles in May, up from 31,219 units a year ago. The strong export numbers further reinforce the company’s position as India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter.
