Mercedes-AMG has unveiled extensively updated versions of the GLE 63 S 4MATIC+ and GLS 63 4MATIC+, bringing significant upgrades to its high-performance SUV lineup.
The biggest headline isn’t the styling refresh or new technology. Instead, it’s the future of AMG’s iconic V8. Mercedes-AMG has comprehensively reworked its 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 to meet future emissions regulations while retaining the performance and character that enthusiasts expect.
AMG V8 Lives On
At the heart of both SUVs sits the updated M177 EVO engine, a heavily revised version of AMG’s legendary V8.
Despite tightening emissions regulations worldwide, AMG has managed to preserve the engine’s output while improving efficiency and responsiveness.
