MG M9 – India’s First All-Electric Luxury MPV Launched

MG Motor has launched the all-new M9 electric MPV in India, priced at ₹69.9 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be sold in a fully-loaded single variant through MG Select, the brand’s premium dealership network. This makes the M9 the first-ever all-electric luxury MPV in the Indian market.

Where It Stands in the Segment

The MG M9 is positioned between the Kia Carnival (₹63.91 lakh) and the Toyota Vellfire (₹1.22-1.32 crore) in terms of pricing. It’s also MG’s most premium offering in India so far.

Big on Size and Style

With its boxy yet stylish design, the M9 stands out with sleek details like:

  • Connected LED headlamps & tail-lamps
  • 19-inch alloy wheels
  • Chrome accents for a premium look

Luxury-Focused Cabin

Inside, the M9 offers a 6-seater layout with second-row captain seats, wrapped in rich cognac brown leather and suede. The cabin design is clean and modern, featuring:

  • 12.23-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • 7-inch digital driver display
  • Two-spoke steering
  • Floating centre console

Second Row is the Highlight

The second-row experience is especially premium, offering:

  • Reclining captain chairs
  • Deployable ottomans (like a lounge)
  • Separate front and rear sunroofs
  • Rear entertainment touchscreens

Boot space is impressive too, with 945 litres standard and up to 1,720 litres when the third row is folded. There’s even a 55-litre frunk (front trunk).

Features & Tech

MG has packed the M9 with a long list of premium features:

  • 13-speaker JBL sound system
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
  • Heated, ventilated, and massage seats
  • Boss mode, powered seats, air purifier
  • Wireless charging, digital IRVM
  • Connected car tech
  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) power sharing

Loaded with Safety

Safety is top-notch too, including:

  • 7 airbags
  • Level 2 ADAS
  • 360-degree camera
  • Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
  • Front & rear disc brakes
  • TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System)

It hasn’t been crash-tested under Bharat NCAP yet, but the M9 holds 5-star ratings from both Euro NCAP and ANCAP.

Battery, Performance & Charging

The M9 is powered by a 90kWh battery and a single electric motor at the front producing 245hp and 350Nm. It offers three drive modes: Normal, Eco, and Sport.

  • Certified range: Up to 548km (MIDC)
  • Fast charging (DC 160kW): 0-100% in 90 minutes
  • AC charging (11kW): Full charge in 10 hours

The MG M9 is a premium, all-electric luxury MPV that combines size, comfort, and tech in a futuristic package. With a focus on the rear-seat experience and sustainable mobility, it offers a fresh, electric alternative in India’s luxury MPV segment.
