Nissan Motor India recorded a strong increase in domestic wholesales in August 2026, while also commencing exports of its latest SUV, the Nissan Tekton. The month marked an important step for the company as the new model began contributing to both its domestic and international operations.
Domestic wholesales stood at 3,246 units in August 2026, compared to 1,384 units in August 2025, registering a significant 147% year-on-year growth. Nissan attributed the rise to the domestic rollout of the Tekton, along with continued sales from its existing SUV portfolio.
The company also began the first phase of the Tekton’s overseas journey, dispatching 1,300 units to three international markets.
However, Nissan’s overall exports declined during August. Total export dispatches across all models stood at 5,924 units, down 23.7% from 7,769 units during the same month last year.
The fall in exports offset much of the strong domestic growth, resulting in a modest rise in overall wholesales.
The Tekton appears to be giving Nissan India fresh momentum at a crucial time. While the sharp rise in domestic wholesales is encouraging, the decline in overall exports shows that the company’s growth remains uneven. The real test will be whether the Tekton can sustain domestic demand while becoming a stronger export product as Nissan expands its international rollout.
