We tested the all-new Porsche Macan Electric, and honestly, we went in with doubts.

An electric Macan? It didn’t sound right.
But after spending time behind the wheel, this might just be one of the most convincing electric SUVs out there right now.
First Impressions
The shift is obvious. This isn’t a conversion, it’s a ground-up EV.
- Sharper, cleaner front design
- Split headlamp setup with LED DRLs on top
- Coupe-like silhouette
It still looks like a Macan, just more futuristic and more aerodynamic.
Design: Familiar, But Clearly New
There’s a nice balance here.

- Muscular stance remains
- Sloping roofline adds sportiness
- Up to 21-inch wheels enhance presence
And then the EV-specific bits:
- Frunk with 84 litres of storage
- Charging ports on both sides
- Adaptive air suspension with adjustable ride height
It’s still practical, just smarter in how it uses space.
Interior: Tech-Heavy, But Thoughtful
Step inside, and it feels properly modern.

- Curved digital instrument cluster
- Large central infotainment screen
- Optional passenger display
What we liked:
- Clean, minimal dashboard layout
- Fast wireless charging with cooling
- Physical feedback via haptic controls
What we didn’t:
- No ventilated seats (only heating)
- The options list can get expensive very quickly
Still, it feels like a proper luxury cabin.
Rear Seat Reality
This is where the EV packaging shows up.
- More legroom than before
- Raised floor due to battery placement
- Slight compromise in under-thigh support
It’s better than the old Macan, but still not the most comfortable place to be.
This remains a driver-focused SUV.
Performance: This Is Where It Wins
Here’s the part that changes everything.
Even in the base variant:
- 563 Nm torque
- 0–100 km/h in 5.7 seconds
- Rear-wheel drive setup
And it feels quick. Seriously quick.
You press the throttle, and it just goes effortlessly. No drama, just instant performance.
Driving Experience
This is where it feels like a Porsche.
- Sharp responses
- Strong braking feel
- Excellent visibility and confidence
Switch it to normal mode, and it becomes:
- Calm
- Easy to drive
- Surprisingly comfortable
It’s this dual nature that stands out.
Range and Usability
- Claimed range: 641 km (WLTP)
- Real-world: 450–500 km
That’s solid for something this quick.
And more importantly, the range drop during our test was gradual and predictable even with hard driving.
The Verdict
We expected this to feel like just another electric SUV.
It doesn’t.
- It’s fast, but controlled
- Practical, but still engaging
- Modern, without losing identity
The Macan Electric answers the big question: Can an EV still feel like a Porsche?
Yes. And that’s what makes it special.
