Škoda Auto Celebrates 5 Lakh Cars Made in India

Škoda Auto has crossed a major milestone by producing 500,000 cars in India, marking a strong step forward in its long-standing journey in the country. This achievement highlights Škoda Auto Volkswagen India’s commitment to Indian manufacturing and its growing trust in local talent and world-class quality standards.

Škoda’s manufacturing story began back in 2001 with the production of the Octavia at its plant in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad). Since then, the company has introduced a wide range of popular models, from classics like the Octavia, Laura, and Superb to modern favorites such as the Kushaq, Slavia, and the new sub-4-meter Kylaq. Over the years, Škoda has built more than just vehicles, it has formed strong emotional connections with Indian customers by evolving with their needs.

What makes this milestone even more special is India’s growing role in Škoda’s global plans. Cars and components made in India are now being exported and assembled at Škoda’s new factory in Vietnam, where the Kushaq and Slavia will be locally produced. This aligns with the Indian government’s vision of “Make in India for the World.”

Škoda Auto’s global production head, Andreas Dick, expressed pride in the company’s growth in India, crediting the local talent and manufacturing excellence that meet international standards. Similarly, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India’s CEO, Piyush Arora, emphasized that this isn’t just about numbers—it’s about building meaningful connections with customers and delivering European-quality vehicles tailored for Indian roads.

About 70% of the 500,000 cars were produced at Škoda’s Pune facility, with the rest built at the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar plant. The brand also set a new record in March 2025, delivering 7,422 cars—its best-ever monthly sales in India.

This production milestone comes in a special year as Škoda celebrates 130 years globally and 25 years in India, marking a proud chapter in its ongoing journey of growth, trust, and innovation.
