Škoda Auto India made history by becoming the first to take a petrol-powered SUV – the Škoda Kodiaq, to the North Face Base Camp of Mount Everest. The India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records officially recognised this achievement.
Ashish Gupta, Brand Director of Škoda Auto India, said that this milestone reflects Škoda’s belief in exploration, progress, and trust in its engineering and quality. He highlighted that the feat shows the growing ambition of Indian customers and proves the Kodiaq’s ability to take on extreme challenges.
The Kodiaq covered over 6,000 km across India, Nepal, and China, facing high altitudes, freezing temperatures, and rough terrain before reaching the base camp on the Tibetan side.
Škoda Auto India is also setting new records in sales. In the first half of 2025, the company achieved its highest-ever half-yearly sales with 36,194 units, a 134% growth over H1 2024, and climbed into the Top 7 carmakers in India. The brand now has over 300 customer touchpoints across 172 cities, strengthening its presence as it celebrates 25 years in India and 130 years globally.
