There are very few performance cars in India that have managed to build a cult following quite like the Skoda Octavia RS.

From the first-generation Octavia RS to the Laura RS, the RS 230, and the later RS 245, every generation has developed a loyal fan base thanks to its blend of everyday usability and genuine performance.
Now, the latest Octavia RS has arrived in India, and after spending time with it at the Buddh International Circuit, it’s clear that Skoda has stayed true to that winning formula.
Familiar Formula, Sharper Execution
At first glance, the new Octavia RS doesn’t try too hard to stand out. There are sportier bumpers, blacked-out elements, RS badging, a rear spoiler, and new 19-inch alloy wheels with aerodynamic inserts. The bright launch-spec green paintwork certainly grabs attention, but the overall design remains understated enough to be used as a daily driver.
That’s always been the charm of the Octavia RS. It doesn’t scream for attention, but enthusiasts know exactly what it is.

Cabin Balances Sportiness and Practicality
Inside, the RS receives sport seats with excellent bolstering, Alcantara trim, carbon-fibre-style inserts, and a large infotainment display. The seats deserve special mention as they provide impressive support while remaining comfortable enough for long journeys.

Like every modern Skoda, practicality remains a strong point. Clever storage spaces, thoughtful cabin features, and solid build quality remind you that this is still an Octavia underneath all the performance upgrades.
Track Impressions
The Buddh International Circuit provided the perfect environment to understand what the new Octavia RS is all about. Straight away, the car feels incredibly well sorted. The steering is precise, the suspension feels composed, and the body control is excellent.
What impressed us most was the power delivery. Throttle response feels natural and progressive, allowing the driver to accurately modulate performance through corners and on corner exits. The chassis inspires confidence, and the car remains remarkably forgiving even when pushed harder on track.
The steering and suspension work together beautifully, helping the driver place the car exactly where intended. Even small mistakes are often corrected by the car’s inherent balance and composure.
Everyday Performance Car
Despite its track capabilities, the Octavia RS never forgets its core purpose. This remains a practical sedan that can comfortably handle daily commuting before turning into a genuinely entertaining performance car on a weekend drive or track day.
That dual personality continues to be one of its biggest strengths.

Verdict
The new Skoda Octavia RS feels like a worthy successor to every RS model that came before it. It delivers the performance enthusiasts expect while retaining the practicality that made previous generations so popular.
More importantly, it still feels special. In an era where many performance cars are becoming increasingly digital and detached, the Octavia RS remains engaging, confidence-inspiring, and genuinely enjoyable to drive. For enthusiasts who have been waiting for the RS badge to return, the wait appears to have been worth it.
