Tata Harrier.EV! Ready to Take on the EV Segment

Tata is getting ready to launch the electric version of their popular Harrier SUV in India. First shown as a concept at 2023 Auto Expo, it has been under development for a long time. A nearly finished model was displayed at BMGE 2024, and the final version was revealed at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. With these recent showcases, it’s official launch is expected very soon.

While Tata hasn’t shared much details officially, we assume that the Harrier EV will have a driving range of over 500 km on a full charge. The electric SUV will use a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, that means one motor on each axle, and will produce 500 Nm of peak torque.

The SUV will likely to be launched with a 75 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that supports fast charging. This adds upto the convenience of the SUV by allowing quicker charging times. Tata will also be providing a smaller battery option, so that buyers can choose between different variants. Harrier EV might also share some specs and features with the Curvv EV.

In case of the Design, the Harrier EV will look similar to its earlier prototype. It will compete against electric SUVs like the Mahindra XEV 9e, Hyundai Creta Electric and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara SUV.

Behind the stage, Tata is also planning more electric models after the Harrier EV. The Sierra EV is all ready to make a comeback alongside a petrol/diesel version very soon, and the premium Avinya EV range is also in the pipeline.

Despite looking similar to the petrol/diesel Harrier, the electric model will come with advanced features like Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging. The electric SUV is built on Tata’s upgraded Gen 2 platform, a modified version of the OMEGA Arc architecture, the Harrier EV is said to offer better strength and improved electric performance.
