Volvo Reveals New Electric Trucks with Up to 700 km Range

Volvo Trucks has unveiled a new generation of electric heavy-duty trucks with significantly improved range, charging speed and performance. The company says its latest electric truck lineup can now deliver up to 700 km range on a single charge.

Volvo says the new trucks are designed to make electric transport practical for a much wider range of commercial operations, including long-haul logistics and heavy-duty transport.

Volvo FH Aero Electric Leads the Lineup

The biggest highlight is the new Volvo FH Aero Electric, which Volvo developed mainly for:

  • Long-distance transport
  • Intercity logistics
  • Full-day freight operations

The truck uses a new E-axle driveline setup that frees up additional space for larger battery packs.

Volvo claims the FH Aero Electric can travel up to 700 km on a single charge while supporting megawatt Charging System (MCS) fast charging.

The company says charging from 20% to 80% takes approximately 50 minutes.

New FH, FM, and FMX Electric Trucks Also Updated

Volvo has also updated its:

  • Volvo FH Electric
  • Volvo FM Electric
  • Volvo FMX Electric

models with new drivetrains, improved gearboxes, and greater flexibility.

These trucks now offer up to 470 km range and support applications including:

  • Construction
  • Urban logistics
  • Refuse collection
  • Heavy-duty freight movement

More Power and Better Comfort

The new trucks feature:

  • Dual-motor drivetrains
  • New multi-speed gearboxes
  • Smoother gear shifts
  • Reduced vibration and cabin noise

Volvo says the most powerful versions now produce up to 731 hp.

Rollout Begins This Year

Volvo says the new electric trucks will gradually enter global markets starting in 2026.

The company also mentioned its broader goal of achieving Net-zero emissions by 2040 through battery-electric, hydrogen fuel cell, and renewable fuel technologies.

Final Take

Volvo’s latest electric truck lineup shows how quickly commercial EV technology is evolving. With ranges now reaching 700 km and charging times dropping below an hour, electric heavy-duty trucks are becoming a far more realistic replacement for diesel-powered long-haul transport vehicles.
