Aprilia has secretively discontinued multiple scooters in India, including the Aprilia SR 160, Aprilia SXR 125, and Aprilia SXR 160.

Interestingly, the company never officially announced the move.

SR 160 Replaced by New SR 175

While the SR 160 is gone, Aprilia has already replaced it with the newer Aprilia SR 175.

The SR 175 gets:

  • A larger 174.7cc engine
  • More power and torque
  • TFT display borrowed from Aprilia’s 457 range
  • Familiar sporty styling

The new scooter produces:

  • 12.9 hp
  • 14.14 Nm torque

Which is a noticeable improvement over the SR 160’s:

  • 11.27 hp
  • 13.44 Nm

Aprilia also recently introduced a GP Replica version of the SR 175.

End of the SXR Maxi-Scooters

The bigger news, though, is the end of the SXR range.

Unlike the SR 160, the:

  • SXR 125
  • SXR 160

currently have no replacement planned.

The SXR scooters were positioned as more premium maxi-style scooters and featured:

  • Larger bodywork
  • More relaxed riding ergonomics
  • 12-inch wheels

compared to the SR range’s sportier 14-inch wheel setup.

Current Aprilia Scooter Lineup

Aprilia’s lineup in India is now mainly focused on:

  • SR 125
  • SR 175

with prices starting from around:

  • ₹1.14 lakh for the SR 125
  • ₹1.21 lakh for the SR 175

Final Take

The SR 175 feels like a natural upgrade over the SR 160, especially with the stronger engine and updated tech. But the discontinuation of the SXR range leaves a gap for buyers looking for a sporty maxi-scooter in India, and for now, Aprilia does not seem to have a replacement ready.
