Hyundai Motor India is preparing a major SUV expansion for the Indian market, with two completely new SUVs expected to arrive by 2026.

The company has confirmed plans for:

  • One new ICE SUV
  • One new electric SUV

as part of its next growth phase in India.

Hyundai Aims for Bigger Growth in India

During its future outlook presentation, Hyundai revealed plans to target:

  • 8-10% domestic growth
  • 8-10% export growth

for FY2026-27.

The company also plans major investment spending of around ₹7,500 crore.

The presentation also teased 2 new nameplates, including:

  • An ICE SUV
  • An E-SUV

Reports suggest the upcoming models are internally known as Bc4i and HE1i.

New ICE SUV Could Rival Upcoming Maruti Models

The upcoming ICE crossover is expected to target the growing compact SUV space.

It could rival cars like:

  • Maruti Suzuki Fronx
  • Upcoming Maruti compact SUVs
  • Tata’s smaller SUVs

The SUV is reportedly based on the Hyundai i20 platform and could get:

  • Petrol engines
  • CNG options
  • Connected car tech
  • Premium cabin features

Compact EV to Rival Nexon EV

The second model is expected to be a compact electric SUV aimed directly at the Tata Nexon EV.

Hyundai reportedly wants to improve localisation and pricing to make the EV more competitive for Indian buyers.

Bigger Production Plans Too

Hyundai also revealed plans to increase production capacity in India. Its Pune plant capacity expansion will reportedly help total production rise to 11.44 lakh units annually after Phase II expansion.
