Bugatti Rimac has completed the sale of Porsche’s shares in the company to a consortium led by HOF Capital. The deal, first announced in April 2026, marks a change in ownership for the company, while Mate Rimac will continue to lead its long-term plans.

Porsche and Rimac Group set up Bugatti Rimac in 2021, with Rimac Group holding a 55 percent stake and Porsche owning the remaining 45 percent. Porsche also had a 21 percent stake in Rimac Group.

Mate Rimac Takes Over as Bugatti President

As part of the leadership changes, Mate Rimac will remain CEO of Bugatti Rimac and will now also become President of Bugatti Automobiles.

The new leadership team includes:

  • Mate Rimac – CEO of Bugatti Rimac and President of Bugatti Automobiles
  • Marko Brkljacic – set to become Chief Operating Officer
  • Hendrik Malinowski – set to become Chief Commercial Officer
  • Christophe Piochon – stepping down as President and COO

Piochon has spent more than 20 years with Bugatti and was involved with some of the brand’s biggest cars, including the Veyron and Tourbillon.

HOF Capital Leads New Ownership Group

HOF Capital leads the new ownership group, with BlueFive Capital as its largest investor, along with other institutional investors from the US and Europe.

Mate Rimac thanked Porsche for helping build Bugatti Rimac and said he looks forward to working with the new investors on the brand’s future.

A Big Phase for Bugatti

The ownership change comes at an important time for Bugatti. The company opened its new La Manufacture production facility in Molsheim in July, while the Tourbillon is now in the final stage of its testing programme.

These developments are part of the 10-year plan for Bugatti that was set out under Mate Rimac’s leadership in 2021.
