Nissan Patrol 2025 Review: Big, Powerful, But Still Old-School?

The 2025 Nissan Patrol continues to stick to its roots. A proper, body-on-frame SUV that prioritises strength and reliability over flashy modern trends. We took a closer look to see if it still holds up in today’s increasingly tech-heavy SUV space.

Design: Familiar and Bold

The Patrol doesn’t try too hard to reinvent itself. It looks big, imposing, and unmistakably SUV.

A large chrome grille, squared-off stance, and high ground clearance give it a strong road presence. It still carries that traditional SUV character, which many buyers in this segment actually prefer over coupe-style designs.

It’s not modern in a futuristic sense, but it doesn’t need to be.

Interior: Spacious and Up to Date

Inside, the space is the first thing you notice. The Patrol offers massive cabin room, especially in the second and third rows.

The seats are comfortable, visibility is excellent, and everything feels built to last. The layout and infotainment are more up-to-date than in its older versions.

The back seats offer ample space, headroom, and legroom, making the Patrol a suitable choice for long trips.

Engine and Performance: Effortless Power

Under the hood now sits a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6, and it delivers around 425 hp and 700 Nm of torque.

  • Strong low-end torque
  • Smooth and linear power delivery
  • Effortless highway cruising
  • Built more for strength than outright sportiness

It feels quick for its size, but more importantly, it remains relaxed even at higher speeds. The 700 Nm torque especially stands out; you barely need to push it, and the car moves with authority.

The shift from the old V8 to this twin-turbo V6 also brings better efficiency, while still keeping that effortless, big-SUV character intact.

Ride and Handling: Built for Tough Conditions

The Patrol is designed for rough terrain, and it shows.

  • Excellent off-road capability
  • Strong suspension setup
  • Handless bad roads with ease
  • Not very agile in tight city spaces

On highways, it feels stable and planted. In the city, however, its size can feel intimidating, especially in tight streets or parking areas.

Off-Road Capability: Still a Benchmark

This is where the Patrol reminds you why it has such a strong reputation.

From dunes to rocky trails, it handles everything with ease. The 4WD system, combined with its robust chassis, makes it one of the most capable off-road SUVs even today.

For buyers who actually use their SUV beyond city roads, this is a big advantage.

Verdict: Old-School Done Right

The 2025 Nissan Patrol doesn’t chase trends, and that’s exactly its strength.

It may not have the latest tech or the most modern cabin, but it delivers where it truly matters: durability, comfort, and serious off-road ability.

For those who seek a tough, reliable, no-nonsense SUV, the Patrol still makes a strong case. But if cutting-edge tech and premium interiors are your priority, newer rivals might feel more appealing.
