Rolls-Royce Unveils Project Nightingale, Limited Coachbuild Electric Model

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has revealed Project Nightingale, its first Coachbuild Collection model. This is a limited-production, two-seat electric convertible that focuses on design, exclusivity, and a new direction for the brand.

The model is inspired by Rolls-Royce’s experimental cars from the 1920s and will be produced in very limited numbers, with deliveries starting in 2028.

What It Is

Project Nightingale is positioned as a special, low-volume offering.

  • Two-seat open-top electric car
  • Built on Rolls-Royce’s aluminium spaceframe
  • Limited to 100 units worldwide
  • Available by invitation only

It is currently a production concept, with testing and development set to begin soon.

Design Approach

The focus here is clearly on design rather than performance numbers.

  • Inspired by Streamline Moderne styling
  • Clean, uninterrupted surfaces with minimal detailing
  • Long bonnet, compact cabin, and low rear profile
  • Large 24-inch wheels

The overall look is meant to feel like a single, sculpted piece, with a strong emphasis on proportion and simplicity.

Exterior Highlights

Some of the key exterior details include:

  • Large grille with 24 vertical elements
  • Slim vertical headlights
  • Continuous design line running from front to rear
  • Rear design with slim lights and a central brake light
  • The car is about 5.76 metres long, similar to a Phantom, but designed as a two-seater.

Interior Concept

Inside, the focus shifts to experience and detail.

  • “Starlight Breeze” lighting with over 10,500 light elements
  • Interior design built around a two-seat layout
  • Minimal controls with a clean layout
  • Space for personal items and luggage

The lighting pattern is inspired by birdsong, tying back to the Nightingale name.

Electric Powertrain

Project Nightingale uses a fully electric setup.

  • Near-silent driving experience
  • No engine noise, especially with the roof down
  • Allows new design possibilities without traditional engine components

The focus is on smooth and quiet driving rather than outright performance.

Exclusivity and Ownership

Rolls-Royce is positioning this as a highly exclusive offering.

  • Limited to 100 cars globally
  • Offered only to selected clients
  • Buyers will be involved in a multi-year design and ownership experience

Each car will be individually customised.

Conclusion

Project Nightingale is less about specs and more about design and exclusivity.

It marks the start of Rolls-Royce’s Coachbuild Collection and shows how the brand plans to approach future luxury electric cars, focused on design, experience, and limited production.
