Nissan Tekton Secures 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating

The Nissan Tekton has earned a full five-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP), scoring top marks for both adult and child occupant protection. The rating applies across the entire Tekton range.

Strong Scores in Crash Tests

The midsize SUV scored 30.49 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection.

Adult occupant protection:

  • Overall score: 30.49/32
  • Frontal offset crash: 14.49/16
  • Side impact test: 16/16
  • Side pole impact: Rated ‘OK’

The Tekton received ‘Good’ protection for the driver’s head, neck, pelvis, and thighs, while chest, lower leg, and foot protection were rated as ‘Adequate’. Protection for the front passenger was rated ‘Good’ across all major body regions.

Child Safety also Impresses

For child occupant protection, the Tekton scored 45 out of 49 points.

Child occupant protection:

  • Overall score: 45/49
  • Full marks in dynamic crash tests
  • Full marks for child seat installation
  • Vehicle assessment score: 9/13

Safety Kit

Standard safety equipment includes:

  • Six airbags
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • Hill Start Assist
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
  • Three-point seatbelts for all occupants

Higher variants also get Level 2 ADAS, featuring:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Autonomous emergency braking
  • Lane keep assist
  • Blind spot monitoring

Price and Rivals

The Nissan Tekton is priced between Rs 10.49 lakh and Rs 18.59 lakh (ex-showroom).

It rivals the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, Tata Sierra, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and its platform sibling, the new Renault Duster.
