2018 Mini Countryman Local Production Begins

BMW Group rolls-out first locally produced countryman from Chennai production facility

BMW Group has rolled-out first ever India-made 2018 Mini Countryman from their Chennai based production facility. This Mini is based on a new bigger platform which is 200mm longer and 30mm wider than the previous one.

This particular model was showcase earlier this year at the 2018 Auto Expo, which is already available in the international market. It is available in India as Petrol – S and JCW and Diesel – SD trims. The new Mini Countryman underpins the very same powertrain from BMW X1. The 2.0-litre petrol engine delivers a maximum power of 189 bhp and peak torque of 280 Nm while diesel engine generates 188 bhp of power and 400 Nm of maximum torque. Both the engines came equipped with 8-speed steptronic gearbox. On the outside, the makers have made some visible changes to the headlight shape which now gets LED lighting option. The iconic ‘floating roof’ and familiar vertically arranged light units are maintained to give the family look from outside.

The new Mini Countryman offers an extra 30% of space on the inside which gives abundant legroom and headroom. Other features such as Satellite Navigation System, Bluetooth, Cruise Control, Emergency E-call and Active Guard are also included in the new Mini.
