Skoda Auto India has unveiled the new Slavia, bringing a series of updates to its popular sedan while expanding its powertrain and technology offering. The company has also announced the return of the Octavia RS and Superb TDI to India.
The Slavia continues to be based on the India-specific MQB-A0-IN platform and has clocked nearly 80,000 units in India so far.
The updated Slavia gets a sharper look and several new features:
One of the biggest changes is under the skin. The 1.0-litre TSI now gets an eight-speed torque-converter automatic, making the Slavia the first sedan in its segment to offer this combination.
The 1.0 TSI also continues with a six-speed manual, while the more powerful 1.5 TSI remains paired with a seven-speed DSG. The 1.5 TSI variants now also get rear disc brakes.
The Slavia retains its 5-star Global NCAP safety rating, with six airbags and more than 25 active and passive safety features offered as standard. Higher variants get more than 40 safety features.
Skoda will also offer its Super Care package with a four-year/1,00,000km warranty, four years of roadside assistance and four free labour services.
The new Slavia was unveiled alongside the Octavia RS, which gets a 261hp 2.0 TSI and a seven-speed DSG, and the Superb TDI, which marks the return of a diesel-powered Superb to India.
