Hyundai Launches Updated Ioniq 5 in India With Bigger Battery and 690 km Range

 South Korean car maker Hyundai has launched the updated Hyundai Ioniq 5 in India at ₹55.70 lakh (ex-showroom), bringing a larger battery, more range and several technology and safety upgrades.

The biggest update is the move to a new 84.0 kWh battery pack, which pushes the claimed ARAI-certified range up to 690 km, a notable jump from before and one that should help ease range anxiety for long-distance users.

More Range, Same E-GMP Platform

The Ioniq 5 continues on Hyundai’s dedicated E-GMP electric platform, but the focus here is clearly on improving everyday usability.

Key headline updates include:

  • New 84.0 kWh battery pack
  • Up to 690 km claimed range
  • In-car payment for EV charging
  • Remote immobilisation via Bluelink

The added range is easily the biggest talking point here.

Design Gets Mild Updates

The overall design remains familiar, but Hyundai has made a few changes.

Updates include:

  • Revised front and rear bumpers
  • New skid plates
  • New alloy wheel design
  • Updated rear spoiler
  • Revised V-garnish lighting signature

The core pixel-inspired styling remains unchanged, which is no bad thing.

Cabin and Tech Updates

Inside, Hyundai has added a few usability-focused improvements.

Highlights include:

  • Dual 12.3-inch displays
  • New 3-spoke steering wheel
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Redesigned wireless charging area
  • Heated and ventilated seat controls integrated into the fascia
  • Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC)

The cabin was already one of the Ioniq 5’s strengths, and these changes build on that.

Safety Gets New Features Too

Hyundai has also added some new driver assistance and safety tech.

New additions include:

  • Parking Collision Avoidance Assist Rear
  • Side Parking Distance Warning
  • Remote immobilisation feature

These join the Ioniq 5’s already extensive safety package.

Price and Colours

The updated Hyundai Ioniq 5 is priced at ₹55.70 lakh (ex-showroom).

It is offered in:

  • Gravity Gold Matte
  • Midnight Black Pearl
  • Titan Grey
  • Optic White

All versions come with an Obsidian Black interior.

This update doesn’t reinvent the Ioniq 5, but it improves where it matters. More range, more tech and extra safety should help keep it relevant in India’s growing premium EV space. And with a claimed 690 km range, that headline number alone will grab attention.
