Ashok Leyland’s Super-stallion fuel bowser spied.

‘Super-Stallion’ is a bench mark in the army fleet vehicles. They are very robust built and capable of endurance in extreme conditions. Stallion Series is recognised as an asset in military logistics. Indian Army is considered to be the largest consumer of Ashok Leyland’s armed vehicles, this association is aged around 4 decades.

We have been spotted a Super stallion series truck is being transported on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway with the ‘UN‘ badges on it! This is in fact a rare scene because, In India these fleet of vehicles are often exclusive under the Indian army possession. Nevertheless, this might be bought to India in order to participate some combined operations supported by Indian Army and the UN.

The vehicle is in 6×6 configuration and have been painted in a rapturous white shade, most of the time these sort of vehicles are seen in some dark camouflages shades. The driver cabin design is similar to the more familiar ‘Captain’ series. Apart from the soul purpose of transporting fuel , there is a decent size box provided between the cab and the tanker, which might be for keeping other essentials! Moreover, a rear view camera setup is found at the rear. Undoubtably, other modern features can be expected inside for the sake of its purpose and utility.

History

In 1994, Ashok Leyland’s Stallion 4×4–an indigenous War Horse–was born and selected to replace Shaktiman 4×4 after demonstrating superior performance even in high altitude, deserts and cross-country terrain

By 1999, when the high-altitude warfare of Kargil unfolded, Stallion had become the definitive logistics vehicle for the Indian Army. The Stallion recorded 95% operational availability, transporting soldiers as well as carrying stores from airplanes to the war zone in extreme hostile conditions. 

When the Indian Army decided to induct New Generation High Mobility Vehicles in 6×6 and 8×8 platforms, Ashok Leyland again rose to the task and built the Super Stallion. This powerful machine hefted the bar for mobility and utility higher than ever before and the Power Horse of Super Stallion vehicles were born.
